Aurora’s two Orthodox Christian churches, St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church and St. Athanasius Romanian Orthodox Church, will gather this weekend to bless the Fox River. In honor of the Holy Fest of Theophany, the pastors and congregations will convene for the 3rd Annual Fox River Blessing Ceremony at 11 A.M. on Saturday, January 10!
The Holy Feast of Epiphany, or Theophany, or the Feast of Light, is greatly celebrated in the Orthodox world. It commemorates Christ's baptism, his blessing of the Jordan River, and the divine revelation of the Holy Trinity.
The ceremony will be held at the RiverEdge Park Pedestrian Bridge at 360 N. Broadway. Parking is available at Lot W near Wilder Park, located at 309 N. River Street. Guests can park and take a brief walk to the center of the pedestrian bridge for the ceremony!
