Human Relations Commission

The Human Relations Commission of the City of Aurora seeks to further understanding within our community and to preserve recognized rights of residents of the city and those who interact within the community, particularly in the areas of equal employment, housing, and access to public services and facilities. If you believe you are the victim of discrimination, you may file a complaint with the Commission.

Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Advisory Board

Created for encouraging the education and preservation of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander culture and history, the empowerment and upliftment of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander community through advocacy, education, and engagement, to serve as a bridge between the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander community and all other communities within the City, and to encourage civil engagement within the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Community.

Sister Cities Commission

Created for the purpose of creating greater understanding and cooperation, and of fostering a lasting friendship between the people of Aurora and its sister cities. Commissioners may be selected from representatives of membership-based cultural or ethnic organizations, community leaders with ties to Sister Cities or their countries, and other professionals with an interest in participating in and promoting the Sister City relationships. The Sister City Commission will: establish and maintain liaison with Sister Cities International, research Aurora's sister city or cities and their respective country or countries, existing and proposed, promote activities between Aurora and its sister city or cities, evaluate relationships with current sister cities and make recommendations to City Council.

Aging-in-Community Advisory Board

Established to promote and enhance the quality of life and resident involvement for residents ages 62 and above, in order to amplify Aurora’s commitment to Aging-in-Community. Duties of the board will include: solicit input and act as a public forum for issues that affect persons ages 62 and above in the City, identify and work with and support existing senior programs. As well as assist with the creation of services, programs, and events for seniors, assist with volunteer recruitment for programs and provide insight into the Aging-in-Community and Age-Friendly initiatives for the City of Aurora.

The FoxWalk Design Review Committee is hereby established to guide the revitalization of downtown Aurora by providing a flexible framework that melds private and public sector efforts under a unifying design concept, respecting Aurora's significant architectural history.

Aurora Public Art Commission

The Aurora Public Art Commission is hereby created to encourage creativity, cultural expression, diversity, and inspiration through promoting public art throughout the City.

Aurora Preservation Commission

The Aurora Preservation Commission was established by the Aurora City Council in 1979 to preserve properties that reflect Auroras historical, cultural, artistic, social, and ethnic heritage.

Advisory Commission on Disabilities

The commission shall commit itself to ensuring that every city resident is afforded an equal opportunity to access and participate in city programs, services, facilities, and communications.

Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board

The Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board is a non-partisan, community based advisory board that serves to act as a bridge between the Hispanic community and all other communities in the City of Aurora. The Advisory Board recognizes diversity throughout the City of Aurora and will therefore make a conscious effort to be all-inclusive.

Aurora Airport Advisory Board
