• The World Health Organization says that 15% of the world’s population lives with an impairment or disability.
• As the world’s population increases more people will live in cities. This means more people with disabilities will be living in cities.
• As cities grow in size, we need to think about how they are built and who they are for.
• People with disabilities are young, old, women, men, and of every race and ethnicity.
• Inclusive cities think about people’s diversity and break down barriers.

Mission 

To foster, engage and mobilize our community to increase our capacity as an accessible and inclusive city, that is age-friendly, through collaboration that leads an inclusive and caring culture, resulting in beneficial collective services and resources being provided to older adults and those with special needs/diverse abilities in the community.

Objective

To be a bridge for our older adults and those with “diverse abilities” to resources and opportunities that support and enhance their life and contributions as residents in our community.
