City of Aurora Launches New Community Development Open Data Portal To Provide Insights On Grants Awarded To Local Programs and Services
The City of Aurora’s Data and Analytics Division, in partnership with the Community Development Division (CDD), has launched a new open data portal designed to give residents an in-depth look at City assistance programs and grant funding awarded to community organizations over time.
The Community Development Open Data Portal features information on grants funded at the federal, state, and local levels that support services for Aurora residents in need. The CDD manages these resources to fund programs related to affordable housing, housing rehabilitation, public infrastructure, and other essential public services.
This new portal is part of the City’s larger Open Data Portal, a centralized hub where residents and community members can access, download, and analyze data across City departments—advancing transparency and accessibility.
“The Community Development Open Data Portal will allow Aurora residents to view how funding has been allocated over the last five years through the Community Development Division based on community priorities,” Management Assistant Adam Grubbs, said. “This will provide another opportunity for Aurora residents to engage with the Division, and to better assist us in determining what gaps there are in the community, so we are able to respond to those gaps by developing programs and allocating funding to better serve citizens.”
The portal offers key insights into how grants are awarded by the CDD and the considerations used to determine which projects deliver the greatest benefits to residents. Grants are aimed at strengthening neighborhood resources and community infrastructure, with eligibility extended to local nonprofits and private businesses that contribute to affordable housing in Aurora.
Through the interactive platform, residents can explore grants funded at the federal, state, and local levels. Available data highlights the types of housing assistance provided, how and where funds are allocated across City wards, and additional community development initiatives.
