Mayor John Laesch (R) poses with Alexandra Jurado, her mother, and Rosary Head of School, Amy McMahon.

At Tuesday night’s Committee of the Whole meeting, Mayor John Laesch honored an Aurora resident who earned a perfect ACT score, an accomplishment just 0.25 percent of high school students achieve annually nationwide.

Alexandra Jurado is currently a junior at Rosary College Prep and recorded the perfect score on the test this past Spring. Jurado’s score is a composite measurement that represents the average of her English, mathematics, and reading test scores. She is the first Rosary student since 2009 to record the perfect score.

“The Rosary College Prep community is so proud of Alexandra for this exceptional achievement,” Rosary Head of School Amy McMahon said. “It is a true testament to her hard work, intellectual curiosity, and self-discipline.”

To further put Jurado’s feat into perspective, the 2025 U.S. high school graduating class saw 1.38 million students complete the ACT exam. Of those 1.38 million, only 2,958 students earned a perfect composite score.

“This is such an amazing honor for Alexandra,” Mayor John Laesch said. “Her hard work in the classroom, along with her remarkable test performance, makes the City of Aurora very proud.”

At Rosary, Jurado is also actively involved in a number of extracurricular activities, including campus ministry, math team, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, student ambassador leadership team, tennis team, softball team, basketball sideline cheer team, the Marmion-Rosary band, and Dominican preaching.
