FAQs

What is a P.E.G. Channel?

Public access channels, as defined by the Federal Communications Commission, are accessible communication channels that are available for use by the general public.

Educational and Governmental access channels differ by their reigning body.

Educational access channels are used for educational programming and are used by educational institutions—including local schools, colleges, and universities. Allocation of channels in this instance is usually by the cable operating or franchising authority.

Governmental access channels are used for programming out of local governments. The local government directly controls allocation of these channels.

Ultimately, public access channels are available for the benefit of residents and community members.

What is a rundown?

The rundown is a road map for a broadcast. It outlines every script and element that will be used on-air in a show in chronological order.

The more detailed your rundown is, the better your broadcast will be.

How do I submit a show?

When you’re ready to submit your own show, simply click on SUBMIT A SHOW. You will be prompted to fill out all appropriate information, submit required material, and review ACTV’s policies and procedures for submission.

Who can use ACTV?

If you are a resident, group, or organization out of the City of Aurora you have access to ACTV. If you are outside the City of Aurora and your show content is relevant to Aurora community members / residents, you may have access to ACTV at the discretion of the producer. The public access channel remains a public space for community members to utilize in unique ways.

Content can be submitted for cablecast in two main formats: static public service announcement (PSA) slides or video program playback. Before content can be aired on the PEG access channel, all users must review, complete, and sign the required material submission forms. This information can be found under SUBMIT A SHOW.

How long does my show need to be?

Programming that is between 5 minutes and one hour long typically performs the best. Content that is over one hour is not advisable without special consideration from ACTV producers.

Where can I watch ACTV programming?

Aurora residents can find ACTV broadcasted on Comcast Channel 10 and AT&T Channel 99. Through our social media channels and app, people can view our content all over the world.
