The Oswego Wildcats showed their talent and teamwork at the recent Special Olympics competition, earning Gold for the Orange Team, Silver for the Junior team, and Bronze for the Silver Team. Andrew Bjes won Gold and Davis Watson earned Silver in the Individual Skills competition!

Waubonsee Men’s Basketball Coach, Lance Robinson, was recently named the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year!

The ACC Girls Basketball team are IHSA 3A Regional Champions! Well done!

5. Aurora Christian Schools

The ACS High School Varsity Boys Basketball team clinched their 4th Regional Championship in 4 years! Senior student Jacab Baumann made the 2nd team Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State Team, as well. Congrats!

6. Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy

Kate Honchar ‘26 was selected to the Little 10 All-Conference Basketball team! This marks Kate’s second time earning a spot on the all-conference team, emphasizing her outstanding performance, sportsmanship, and leadership as a Titan.

Omar Nijikam ‘26 was recognized as a Little 10 Senior All-Star, averaging 14.1 points per game, while Lota Onwuameze ‘27 was also selected for his second consecutive Little 10 All-Conference Team.

Aurora University

The Aurora University men’s hockey team was victorious in the 2025-2026 NCAA Tournament quarterfinal round, defeating Endicott College in a fiearce double-OT battle, sending the Spartans to the Frozen Four.

Batavia School District 101

The Batavia High School Boys Swimming and Diving team won Sectionals! Students Isaiah Day qualified for State in the 200 Freestyle, Michael Marsh in the 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, and 400 Free Relay. Woo hoo!

First year student Eric Gamez of East Aurora High School has been selected for the statewide banner campaign promoting the Special Olympics Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run! 

Eric will be featured as part of the campaign highlighting athletes and supporters who represent the spirit, determination, and inclusion that define Special Olympics across Illinois.

Metea Valley High School junior student, Rosie Picari, became the first Mustang girls wrestler to place in the Illinois High School Association State Series!

Marmion student Brayden Capen ‘27 captured the IHSA State titles in the 200 IM and 500-Yard Freestyle – this marks his second individual State title!

West Aurora School District 129

The West Aurora High School Boys Wrestling team had 5 State Qualifiers! Congrats to Gabe Richmond, Evan Matkovich, Malan Hatfield, Marcus Quintana, and Dayne Serio.

On the girl’s side, Aiyanah Sylvester took the top spot and is also a State Qualifier!

Junior student Travis Brown was named Upstate Eight Boys Basketball Player of the Year and Honorable Mention All-State!
