5th grade students at Aurora Christian brought math to life this month, designing and building their own Place Value Cities. The project applied their skills with large numbers, decimals, rounding, and place value. Through creativity and hands-on learning, students became city planners while showcasing how math can be used in meaningful, real-world ways!
Batavia High School senior, Peter Day, was named a Semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Peter is among the more than 16,000 academically talented high school seniors nationwide selected for this prestigious recognition. Batavia SD 101 is proud to celebrate Peter's hard work and academic achievement!
Cassandra Eve Marvitz ‘27 was selected for the U.S. Air Force’s Aim High Flight Academy (AHFA), a highly competitive, all expenses paid aviation scholarship program for high school students nationwide. Cassandra completed the three-week program, which included flight training with FAA-certified instructors, ground school, flight simulator training, and mentorship from Air Force aviators. She completed her first solo flight during the program, marking an exciting milestone in her aviation journey!
Five AU students received Ward 2 scholarships at the 21s annual Aurora Hispanic Pioneers Breakfast, hosted by Alderwoman Juany Garza. Sponsored by local Aurora businesses, the scholarships recognize students for their academic achievement and involvement in community service.

Aurora Central Catholic held its day of service on Monday, September 14th, supporting the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association, Marklund, the Phillips Park Zoo, and the ACC community.
This is a great example of how ACC students are showing up for their city and community.
Four students out of District 131 were recognized for their achievements in competitive robotics. The studentsparticipatedin D131’s STEM Ignition program, advancing from weekly STEM activities to national and international robotics competitions.
Nicholas Sookooof Benavides STEAM Academy earned first place in the Robo Mission Junior Division, qualifying for the World Robot Olympiad International Final in Puerto Rico this year.
Nathan Sookoo, of Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy, placed third alongside Noah in theRoboMissionElementary Division. This finish qualifies them both for the Americas Open Championship in California.
Josue Favela of Johnson Elementary School also earned first place at the Regional Open Qualifier, qualifying him for the Americas OpenChampionship.

The Neuqua Valley High SchoolAerialRobotics team won the UAS4STEM National Championship in the beginner division of the drone engineering competition held this past summer.
The competition challenges teams to design, build, and fly a drone on manual and autonomous missions, simulating real-world situations like inspection and delivery.

Kaneland Blackberry Creek Elementary student, Sebastian, hasassistedthe library every morning tor the last two years. To open the school library this year, Sebastian made a mural on the LRC LEGO wall to welcome students back!

Senior Caleb Quitno was named a Merit Semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program! The nationwide pool of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists are the highest scoring students in each state, based on the 2025 Preliminary SAT/NationalMerit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Quinto's achievement reflects a commitment to academic excellence, including earning a perfect score of 36 on the ACT.

42Fifty, Oswego High School’s online student media publication, received the George H. Gallup Award from the Quill & Stroll Journalism Honor Society! This is 43Fifty’s second year receiving this prestigious award in a row – it is the highest honor from Quill & Stroll. OHS was one of only ten schools nationwide, and the only in Illinois, to earn this recognition.
Rosary College Prep student Alexandra Jurado, of Aurora, has earned the highest possible composite score of 36 on the ACT test. Jurado, who took the test this past spring, is currently a junior at the Aurora school.
This is a very rare achievement as about 0.25%, or one-quarter of one percent, of students who take the ACT earn a top score. The last time a Rosary student earned a perfect score was in the class of 2009.
At Rosary, Jurado serves as a Dominican Preacher and is a member of the Campus Ministry Team, Math Team, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, Student Ambassador Leadership Team, Tennis Team, Softball Team, Basketball Sideline Cheer Team, and Marmion-Rosary Band.
Students at Frank Hall Elementary in D129 are peer reviewers! Writers are helping writers, as Huskies in 4H read their classmates’ writing, shared thoughtful feedback, and celebrated each other’s ideas.
They are learning that great writers don’t just write – they read, revise, reflect, and learn from one another.
Students in the Science Club and Student Garden Club at Waubonsee Community College are growing fresh produce in the Student Community Garden, donating their harvest to the new GROVE Student Food Pantry. This is an incredible example of peers helping peers and making the WCC community a place for all to thrive.
