With the current program, you now have more options to choose from to better fit your personal needs. All carts have wheels and lids and come in three convenient, affordable sizes:
*Groot will bill quarterly.
The current cart program continues to include unlimited recycling. Residents are provided their choice of a 35- or 65-gallon cart that has wheels and a lid. With increased capacity from the previous bins, recycling is easier and more convenient than ever. Lidded carts also help keep neighborhoods tidier by preventing flyaway trash.
Per section 305 of the City Code, approved containers are required for residential properties. Storage of garbage is prohibited, and approved containers are required to be emptied. Any resident who does not respond to the mailer will receive the default option of a 65-gallon refuse and a 65-gallon recycling container.
Residents can dispose of the containers by placing a "please remove" note. Residents may also write directly on old containers. Groot will only take the containers with clear indication that they are to be removed.
Mailers allowing residents to choose their service option will be sent out the second week of May.
The new carts will be property of Groot Services, and therefore they will repair or replace any damaged carts. If a cart is stolen, fill out a police report and they will replace the cart.
The 3 carts hold the following amount of garbage: - 35 gallon cart holds approximately three 13 gallon trash bags - 65 gallon cart holds approximately six 13 gallon trash bags - 95 gallon cart holds approximately ten 13 gallon trash bags
There is a 35-gallon and a 65-gallon recycling cart.
Senior citizens will receive a separate mailer to confirm their registration in the orange bag program. All questions regarding the orange bag program should be directed to Groot Services via phone at 630-892-9294.
There will be an initial 90-day period where residents can swap cart sizes free of charge. After the 90-day period there will be a $25 service fee.
The program will be effective July 1, 2015. Delivery will follow the garbage route. Monday delivery will begin on the west side through and until the far east side of Aurora.
The bill will come from Groot quarterly, every 3 months.
