Public Transition Committees now open.

APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN: City of Aurora Launches Public Transition Committees!

The City of Aurora is inviting passionate, dedicated, and committed community members to apply to serve on the newly-launched Public Transition Committees, aimed at developing community-based recommendations that inform the work of City Departments.

The five committees are as follows...

The Finance and Responsibility Committee will be tasked with developing a 100-day goal and four-year budget and finance plan, one that prioritizes the cultivation of new revenue streams to reduce the tax burden on Aurora families.

The Sustainability and Development Committee looks to propel Aurora into the 21st century by developing a bold climate plan, empowering residents to embrace energy-efficient homes and renewable energy through accessible incentives. The Committee will also work on a plan to preserve the City’s natural green spaces, while setting the foundation for a thriving green-collar economy.

The Housing Committee is set to address accessibility and affordability for all Aurora residents through a comprehensive plan, focused on green building initiatives. Additionally, the Committee will develop recommendations to support the City’s unhoused community, emphasizing the importance of home ownership.

The Public Safety Committee will enhance community well-being through an all-encompassing approach to public safety, designing a plan that incorporates innovative methods of crime prevention and strengthens community involvement in public safety.

The Supporting Youth and Education Committee will work to develop after-school programs and liberatory education initiatives that empower youth and elevate educational opportunities for all students.

Applications are now open! For more information on applicant requirements and each Public Transition Committee, please visit www.aurora.il.us/PTC. Applications will be open until July 7.
