The City of Aurora is aware of the final phase of electrical repair work set to take place at the CyrusOne Data Center on Friday, August 22, from 7 A.M. to 3 P.M. Although temporary sound walls are in place to minimize sound generated during the work, it is possible that noisy conditions will persist, affecting the City’s Palomino Springs neighborhood and the surrounding area. It is important to note that less than half of the generators that were running during August 14th's repair work will be energized tomorrow, helping to minimize the effect of noise pollution on residents.
Mayor John Laesch and key members of his administration met with CyrusOne on Wednesday to discuss the nature of the repair work. Mayor Laesch worked with Cyrus One’s team to negotiate the timing of the critical electrical repairs, ensuring that they do not take place late into the evening. CyrusOne also agreed to enhance the temporary shielding around the rooftop chillers by adding insulation, thereby decreasing the amount of noise pollution affecting the area. These efforts are part of the City’s continued commitment and prioritization of residents’ well-being and quality of life.
Both the City of Aurora and CyrusOne continue to work together to finalize a permanent solution to the noise complaints that have affected the area. CyrusOne appreciates the community’s patience while scheduling and performing this critical work. More updates on CyrusOne’s permanent generator wall and permanent chiller sound mitigation progress are set to be shared during another resident meeting in early September.
