The Choose Aurora Homebuyer Assistance Program is funded by the Federal Department of Housing & Urban Development HOME Investments Partnerships Program (HOME).
This program offers up to $20,000 in the form of a deferred loan, up to a $5,000 grant, and up to a $2,000 repairs grant for homebuyers that meet the income requirements of being at or below 80% Area Median Income ($95,900 for a four person household in 2025), as well as the requirements for moving into a safe and affordable home.
The amount of assistance provided will be determined by city staff. Homebuyer counseling by a HUD-certified Housing Counselor working for a recognized HUD approved housing counseling agency is required.
The property must remain the primary residence of the homebuyer, and then once sold or the deed changes names, the deferred loan would be repaid back to the City of Aurora.
