Programs Offered

The Community Development Division collaborates with community partners, residents, and elected officials to identify and implement public programs and capital projects that address community development and housing needs for low and moderate income residents.

One Aurora Neighborhood

This program provides one-time funding to assist residents with reimbursement for projects such as paint, window, and door screen repair, siding repairs, general landscaping, fencing improvements, and small repairs that affect the exterior presentation of the home.

Community Development Block Grant

Community Development Block Grant funds are granted directly to the City of Aurora to assist low to moderate income persons who earn 80% of the Chicago-Joliet-Naperville Area Median Income or below. 

Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME)

HOME is provided by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide decent, affordable housing for low income individuals.

Using Federal HUD Funds

Annually, the City engages the public in a process to craft a one-year action plan for the use of HUD funds, based on the priorities and goals outlined in the 5-year Consolidated Plan.

Choose Aurora

This program offers a up to $5,000 in a forgivable loan to persons or families with household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Family Income ($95,900 for a four person household in 2025) to help pay down payment and closing cost to purchase a home within the City limits.
